Right on the mark!

Luke had just finished watching a cartoon Bible story, about the birth of Jesus, when he asked me this question this morning...on his very own....

"Mom, how come we have Santa everywhere and not baby Jesus...it is not Santa's birthday. It is not about presents, it is about Jesus, it is not Walmart...you know"

WOW! You see, we have began to decorate the house and out came several adorable Santas...but the nativity has not made it out quite yet...

I am so glad he "gets it"...the true meaning and the wording...quite nice, I must say.

I have to tell about a special thing we are participating in. We have a manager in our kitchen. It had no hay in it or baby Jesus right now... starting on Dec. 1st, we all drew names (our immediate family in the household). That week, whosoever name you got, you do nice things for all week secretly. If you do something special, you put a piece of straw in the manger for each nice thing you do. At the end of each week, you reveal who you had and redraw names again. We do this until Christmas and by Christmas day, the goal is to have a soft bed of hay for baby Jesus to lay on. It has been very fun and baby Jesus will hopefully have a soft place to lay his head!
